Job Description

The Divisions of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Pediatric Pulmonary, Sleep, and Asthma Medicine, and Quality of Life and Pediatric Palliative Care are seeking a Communications Specialist to lead the development and execution of digital strategies to enhance the visibility, engagement, and brand presence of the three divisions. This role will oversee content creation, philanthropic engagement, social media management, stakeholder engagement, website management, and internal/external communications. The ideal candidate is a creative, strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling, brand building, and data driven decision making. This is a temporary and hybrid position with 2 days a week onsite.

The Divisions have a growing team, including long-tenured faculty, staff, and leadership. The divisions activities reach all parts of the mission: patient care, education, and research. The Communications Specialist will have a great deal of exposure to all of these areas and will be communicating with a broad range of individuals, both internally and externally. Within the Divisions, there is a strong operations team of about 25 people. Duties include:

  • Define communication goals, objectives, target audiences, key channels, and activities for each of the 3 divisions
  • Produce and curate digital content to engage users, increase user base, and grow channels. Optimize content delivery strategies; build content topics, tailor content to outlet platform, target specific audiences, and make editorial decisions.
  • Develop and implement content strategies tailored to each platform, ensuring alignment with audience interests and institutional branding.
  • Establish and refine the editorial brand voice across websites, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Develop and implement systems for organizing, scheduling, and optimizing content across digital channels.
  • Manage social listening efforts based on comments and online conversations. Respond to reputation risks by taking appropriate action and recommend solutions to minimize harm.
  • Own and maintain multiple Division relevant websites, ensuring up-to-date, user-friendly, and engaging content.
  • Develop and distribute monthly internal newsletters for three Divisions, implementing an efficient tool for content organization and streamlined distribution.
  • Manage all Divisions’ social media platforms ensuring strategic content delivery, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Compile data, analyze and report on social media use. Analyze how content is performing and create reports with recommendations to management.
  • Build support for social initiatives among internal stakeholders by acting as internal advocate for digital community efforts, building support and driving digital best practices.
  • Contribute to overall development and refinement of digital community strategy, and innovative social initiatives by proposing and implementing recommendations.
  • Provide customer service to constituents across digital channels; Represent organization to constituents, campus, media
  • May supervise interns, entry-level staff, and volunteers.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in healthcare, academia or research-driven organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead comprehensive communication strategies.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, and administrators.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and minimum 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build lasting relationships and strong communities; customer focus.
  • Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
  • Highly organized and creative.
