Job Description

PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Our client, a growing consumer services company, is looking to add a Payroll Specialist to their team. This person will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role plays a key part in employee satisfaction and operational efficiency by ensuring all compensation is processed correctly and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly/semi-monthly/monthly payroll for 1,500+ employees across multiple states or regions.
  • Collect and verify timekeeping information and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations (FLSA, IRS, DOL, etc.).
  • Administer payroll changes including new hires, terminations, raises, bonuses, and garnishments.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, and timekeeping issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and finance teams.
  • Coordinate with HR and accounting to ensure accuracy in benefits, deductions, and GL coding.
  • Support year-end processes including W-2, W-4, 1099, and other tax filings.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and best practices.

Qualifications

Required :

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field.
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as [ADP, UKG, Paycom, Workday, etc.].
  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles, tax regulations, and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.

Preferred :

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification.
  • Experience handling multi-state and high volume payroll.
  • Understanding of benefit deductions, 401(k) contributions, and payroll GL processes.
