Charge Nurse - HealthCare Industry

Location: Alta Heights Post Acute AHP01, 813 South Dickerson Rd, Goodlettsville, TN 37072

Position Summary: Direct the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Unit in accordance with current standards governing long-term care facilities, ensuring the highest degree of quality care for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing nursing services.
• Develop and update policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
• Resolve issues related to resident/patient care, including family concerns.
• Ensure reference materials at nurses' stations are current.
• Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
• Participate in the facility's quality assurance program.
• Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms and reports.
• Make nursing diagnoses and assessments.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Review nurses' notes for accuracy and completeness.
• Authorize the use of restraints when necessary.
• Provide health education to patients and families.
• Assist in developing annual in-service training programs.
• Participate in developing assessments and care plans for residents.
• Encourage resident and family participation in care plan development.
• Ensure all personnel are aware of and follow the resident's care plan.
• Maintain good rapport with all services involved in the care plan.
• Participate in quality assurance activities.
• Adhere to scope of practice limitations.
• Complete required forms and documents.
• Perform general nursing duties in emergencies or staffing shortages.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.

• Ability to make independent decisions and accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, and the public.
• Ability to maintain supplies and equipment.
• Ability to seek out and incorporate new methods and principles.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Prolonged use of a computer and office equipment.
• Travel may be required.

Education & Experience:

• Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintenance of required continuing education/licensing.
• 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products; knowledge of PCC preferred.
