The Opportunity

A fast-growing, design-led firm working across high-end furniture and interiors is seeking a Design Manager with millwork experience to lead and coordinate the technical design process from concept to installation.

You’ll oversee the development of detailed shop drawings, manage a team of designers and external fabricators, and ensure all design output meets the highest standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, and constructability. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for custom interior elements, with a strong focus on architectural millwork and furniture
• Produce, review, and oversee shop drawings, technical packages, and fabrication-ready documentation
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, vendors, and installers to ensure seamless project delivery
• Coordinate internal design resources and external drafters/consultants to meet timelines and quality expectations
• Ensure all work complies with project specifications, budgets, and applicable codes
• Maintain a high level of design quality while problem-solving proactively through technical and production constraints

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in technical design, detailing, or millwork engineering for high-end furniture, interiors or luxury architectural projects
• Strong proficiency in design software (Chief Architect and 20/20 Design Software. AutoCAD and Sketchup are a plus).
• Deep understanding of fabrication methods, materials, joinery, and millwork standards
• Experience working alongside fabricators, general contractors, and design professionals
• Excellent communication and drawing review skills—comfortable leading internal and external coordination
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to balance design excellence with production feasibility
• Experience managing a small design team or external drafting consultants is an advantage
