Overview:

Marriott Westchase Hotel is looking for a Full-Time PM Bartender  

Position Summary: The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages to guests in the hotel lobby bar or restaurant, in an efficient and professional manner, while providing exceptional guest service following the brand’s high standards. This role requires a passion for mixology and the ability to easily engage with guests to create elevated and unique experiences.

Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that will include various days of the week, including weekdays, weekends and holidays, working 2:00 PM - 12:00 AM, with the flexibility to stay later for special events up to 2:00 AM. Schedules change weekly based on business demands.

Specifically, in your role as the Bartender your primary responsibilities are the following, but not limited to:

  • Mix and serve drinks according to established recipes and guest preferences, ensuring quality and presentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, taking drink orders, and making recommendations for food and drinks.
  • Promptly clear bar after guests have finished and prepare for next guest, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for incoming guests.
  • Set up bar following established standards, including liquor, inspecting glassware for cleanliness and in proper condition, and completing opening procedures checklist.
  • Monitor inventory levels of bar supplies and assist leadership in ordering and restocking as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with TABC regulations and responsible service practices, including checking IDs and monitoring guest consumption.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby bar, including washing glassware and utensils as necessary.
  • Perform opening and closing duties and required side-work for role.
  • Memorize table numbers and seat numbers of the lobby bar.
  • Maintain expected high standards for uniform and personal appearance.
  • Participate in daily routine, detailed lobby bar clean-up and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with beverage service during special events and banquets as needed.

Supportive Functions : The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of mixology and beverage service, with ability to quickly recall drink recipes and guest preferences.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate in the English language with guest and restaurant staff.
  • Ability to work well in a team under pressure and handle a fast-paced environment with professionalism.
  • Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.
  • Ability to handle and count cash and process payments accurately.
  • Moves liquor, equipment, carts, and tubs weighing up to 25 lbs. regularly.
  • Moves through-out lobby bar, restaurant and kitchen areas, including frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions, such as shaking and mixing drinks with both hands.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.
  • Able to work in a busy restaurant environment, including exposure to various noise levels, alcohol, hot surfaces and large crowds.

Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Food Handler Certification and TABC Certification are required.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of bartending experience in a high-volume establishment.
  • Experience as a bartender in a full-service hotel environment is preferred.
