Job Description

Position Summary

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing production schedules to ensure the timely manufacture of high-quality medical devices that meet customer demand, regulatory requirements, and inventory targets. This role requires close collaboration with procurement, manufacturing, quality, engineering, and sales teams to maintain efficient operations in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate material availability with Purchasing and Inventory Control to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
  • Monitor production progress daily and adjust schedules as necessary to meet delivery commitments.
  • Analyze capacity and resource constraints to identify potential bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) to ensure planning integrity.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure product availability aligns with quality release timelines and regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Work with Engineering and Operations to integrate new product introductions (NPI) into production schedules.
  • Track and report key performance metrics, including on-time delivery, production efficiency, and material usage variance.
  • Support audits and documentation requirements as part of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in production planning, scheduling accuracy, and communication flow across departments.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of production planning experience, preferably in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, NetSuite, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR (Quality System Regulation) requirements.
